Larry Mitnick Huntingdon Valley, PA Phone: 215-694-1161 Email: limitnick@aol.com Website: www.larrymitnick.com I have continuously painted throughout my career as an architect and educator. The ideas that inform my paintings and architecture are in a friendly conversation, exchanging insights gained from each. Space is more than an immense vacuum but the medium through which we inhabit the world. Spatial conditions are poetic structures that embody human experience. Emotions take hold as one is drawn into my paintings through the elements of form/space, color and visual movement. Currently, I am a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Architecture. After my tenure of more than 35 years at the University of the Arts, College of Art, Media and Design I was awarded Emeritus Associate Professor. Besides teaching I became director of the Architectural Studies Program at the University of the Arts followed by co-director of the Foundation Program. My early teaching experiences include Assistant Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale of Lausanne, Switzerland and at Harvard University, Graduate School of Design. I have exhibited paintings, graphic work and architectural projects in China, Europe and the United States. My articles, poetry, drawings and paintings were published in art and literary magazines. I have also won a Progressive Architecture award for my architectural design work. I earned my Bachelor of Architecture degree at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and a Master of Architecture post professional degree, at Harvard University, Graduate School of Design. |
