Mark Oliver

I have a passion for documenting our built environment. Towns and cities are the subjects of my watercolor paintings and pen and ink drawings. I examine everyday places, buildings passed on the way to the store, canopies of trees that change with the seasons, early morning shadows of fire escapes, dappled sunlight on clapboard houses, the distinctive lines and angles of urban landscapes. The colors, light and shadows that form and shape our environment and contribute to an ever-changing and fascinating experience are my inspiration.
