Crossroads

Paul Grecian and Richard Harrington
August 10 to September 2, 2012
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 11, 5-8 pm
As art lovers wind their way through the streets and avenues of New Jersey's artistic enclaves this August, they should pause at 18 Bridge Street in Lambertville. There, at Artists' Gallery, they will find "Crossroads," a show dedicated to the wanderers and explorers and all the varied paths they may fallow.

Artists Paul Grecian and Richard Harrington will lead you through beach grass to the sparkling Atlantic and down brick-paved alleys in Old Philadelphia. They will guide you along toll roads and bike paths, across parking lots and meadows, pointing out along the way the beauty and mystery of the byways along which we all meander.

"I'm fascinated by the side streets and alleys that are removed from our main streets and thoroughfares," says Harrington, whose subject matter tends toward the urban. "These streets have so much to tell us about the past and present, if we would only take the time to stop and look, or travel down them and see what lies at the other end."

Grecian, who favors the natural world over the man-made, is more likely to be captivated by a hiking trail, a dune path, or a creek bed. "My goal" says Grecian, "is to instill in viewers of my photographs the sense they are walking outdoors and to allow them to engage mentally in exploring nature".

"Although Paul's and Richard's imagery is sharply different, their subject matter shares the same roots," says Gallery Spokesperson Laurie Nicholson. "They meet, like so many of us do, at the "Crossroads."

"Crossroads" will be on display at The Artists' Gallery in Lambertville Friday, August 10, through Sunday, September 2. An opening reception will be held Saturday, August 11, from 5 pm to 8 pm.
