Blog: The Art Fly
Since the late 1990s I’ve been immersed in a theme involving the profound beauty of natural elements and ordinary objects: beach stones, bamboo, seedpods, shells, bones…a glass sphere.
This evolving body of work is my Meditations series (paintings and silverpoint drawings) through which I’ve explored abstract ideas like peace, harmony, patience - and discovered a very personal iconography. The clear sphere represents an observer, of interior or exterior places.
For the past several years I’ve expanded on the Meditations theme, in the form of bamboo mosaics. In doing these, I’m engaging in a true and exciting collaboration with Nature.
My paintings, silverpoints, wood and bamboo mosaics have received many awards and press over the years I’ve been exhibiting. I’m grateful to the American Bamboo Society for awarding me and Honorable Mention in September 2012, and for publishing an article about my work in an upcoming issue of Bamboo magazine.
